Develop Marketing Materials and an Online Presence

Once you have established your Native Arts & Culture Council and have sustainable funding in place, it is time to advertise the activities, programs, and services that the Council will provide. This can be done through advertising, public relations, and social media.

Creating a Marketing Plan will help to raise awareness of the Council and its programs, as well as attract new participants and supporters.  A marketing plan is a document that outlines the marketing strategy and should include the organization’s goals, target audiences, and budget. A well-crafted marketing plan will enable the Council to efficiently share efforts with internal and external publics.

Basic Elements of a Marketing Plan

  • Executive Summary:  The executive summary is a brief overview of the entire marketing plan. It should include the mission statement, marketing goals, and a description of the target audiences.
  • Situational Analysis:  The situational analysis is a review of the current marketing situation. It should include an analysis of the target market, the competition, and the marketing environment.
  • Marketing Objectives:  Marketing objectives are the specific goals that you want to achieve with your efforts. They should be measurable, achievable, relevant, and time bound. An example could include the following: “To raise awareness of the Arts Council among 35% of community members by January 31, 2028.”
  • Marketing Strategies:  Marketing strategies are specific actions that the marketing team should take to achieve your marketing objectives. They should be based on situational analysis and the ways the target audience regularly receives information.
  • Budget:  A marketing budget is the amount of money available for advertising and marketing efforts.
  • Evaluation:  Including a plan for evaluating efforts will help determine whether the strategies are effective and allow the Council to make necessary adjustments for future endeavors.
