Application Process

  • Applications must have been received by March 25, 2011
  • Once your application is received, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive a confirmation within two business days, please contact the ATALM office at 405-522-3515
  • You will be notified no later than April 1, 2011 as to whether or not you received a scholarship.
  • If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be required to sign a scholarship agreement.

Applicant Criteria

  • Must currently work with tribal programs, or
  • Serve as a volunteer or intern with tribal cultural programs, or be
  • Currently enrolled in a museum, library, or archival-related program.

Scholarship Information

  • Scholarships range from $250 to $856. Please understand that most scholarships cover registration and lodging only. Travel awards are rare.
  • In order of priority, scholarships are to cover (1) registration; (2) accommodations; (3) travel.
  • Awards will be based upon financial need, the extent to which you will benefit from the training received, and the amount of funding available.
  • Applications must be received by March 21, 2011. You will be notified via e-mail no later than April 1, 2011 as to the status of your application.

Travel

  • If awarded, travel reimbursement checks will be mailed after the institute. Registration and lodging will be made by ATALM in advance.
  • When estimating travel, indicate the estimated lowest coach airfare. No travel award will exceed $250.
  • If traveling by air, only the cost of your coach airfare will be considered. No funds are provided for local transportation, airport parking, etc.

Lodging

  • To be eligible for lodging, you must travel at least 100 miles round trip.
  • Depending on the number of requests received, you may be assigned a roommate.
  • Only the hotel room rate and taxes are covered. All other room charges, such as telephone calls, movies, etc., are your responsibility.
  • Institute registration covers breakfast, lunch, and a light supper on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
